JibJab Pulls The Pilgrim Song Out of the Oven

Here in the ol’ US of A, we’re gearing up for Thursday’s Thanksgiving feast. While we await our belly stuffing, enjoy this Flash-animated Thanksgiving video titled The Pilgrim Song from JibJab. This new Sendables music video was designed and directed by Romney Caswell while Stephen Herczeg, a summer employee from CalArts, handled the character animation. You can replace all of the question-mark-heads with your own photos if you sign up for Sendables over at JibJab, where a subscription is just a buck a month.

Grootfontein Gives Birth to a JibJab Piñata

Paris-based artist Art Grootfontein has completed his first project for JibJab – a new Sendable birthday short. His piece, titled Piñata Blast, was animated in Flash. To access the huge collection of JibJab Sendables, sign up for a subscription, currently priced at $1 per month.

JibJab Sues Toyota For Some Dead Presidents

Animators – you might want to put a LoJack on your animations, because Toyota Motor USA seems to be in a stealing mood. I’ll let JibJab’s official complaint for damages explain why:

“Toyota recently ran a commercial promoting its 2011 President’s Day sale, which incorporated elements identical (to) and/or substantially indistinguishable from JibJab’s Founding Father’s Rap and Starring You Tap Dance videos.”

The TV spot in question was produced by Hoffman Lewis, who simply shoulda known better. The whole dancing president thing certainly feels JibJab-esque, but wait until the end for the little “Ends Soon” tag – it’s a blatant rip. Watch for yourselves, ladies and gentlemen of the jury….

JibJab Digs Up Frankenstein For Halloween

The latest JibJab Movie in a Minute tackles the great tale of Frankenstein and his monster, just in time for Halloween season. Did you know…. the monster has no name in the original book, but he’s often mistakenly called Frankenstein. I myself call the monster Abe, because he looks like Abe Vigoda.

Starting today, you can upload photos and create your very own version of the 4th, 5th and 6th Star Wars films. I’ve taken the liberty of creating Dancing With the Star Wars, complete with space-pioneer Buzz Aldrin as Luke, Aiden Turner as Han, Chad Ochocinco as Lando and Pam Anderson(‘s chesticles) as Princess Leia.

Ian Worrel is the mastermind behind Second Wind, his brilliant senior thesis from CalArts, which emerged on the web last August. It got another release on Vimeo this week to rave reviews. Since school, he’s been hard at work at JibJab, where he makes fun projects like this Flash animated wedding greeting below:

Fulp Interviewed For NPR Flash Story

The NPR radio show All Things Considered aired a segment yesterday about the importance of Flash in the birth of the internet. How Flash Brought The Internet To Life by Guy Raz mentions a number of topics related to character animation including JibJab, Tom Fulp and Newgrounds.
