Los Campeones De La Lucha Libre (”The Champions of Wrestling”) has officially hit the theaters in Mexico. This Flash-animated feature film is an homage to lucha libre wrestling created by Eddie Mort and Lili Chin - the creators of ¡Mucha Lucha!. The voice cast includes two of my pals Eric Bauza and Matt Danner. Check out the brief interview and behind the scenes clips we featured here back in 2007, and then watch the full trailer below:

Rafa Cardenas, a graduate of the Vancouver Film School, has produced some exceptional 3D-animated films. His short Pedrito el Valiente is over 125,000 views on YouTube and his film Calaverita was nominated for an Ariel, the equivalent of a Mexican Oscar.

Rafael and his brother Raul chose Flash for this short below, which was produced at the UCLA Animation Workshop. It’s titled PopUp.

According to a recent article in Animation Magazine, Univision’s first prime-time animated series, El Chavo: La Serie Animada debuted with strong ratings, scoring ahead of both The CW and the almighty NBC. This Flash-animated series was physically produced by Anima Estudios, which is based in Mexico City. El Chavo is based on the children’s show, El Chavo de Ocho.
