You know when your friend or friends work on something and you really want it to be good so you can honestly tell them you liked it – but it sucks? Well, I don’t have that problem with Good Vibes, the new Flash-animated MTV series that premieres tonight at 10:30/9:30c. My pals at Six Point Harness can be very proud of this show, and I suspect the whole team will enjoy several more seasons and as much success as an animated show on MTV can get (both Downtown and Clone High deserved far more honorable deaths). Here’s the latest promo:
I sat in the premiere screening of the Good Vibes pilot at Comic-con earlier this month, and the buzz I’d heard on the show was confirmed. The writing is solid, and while the series relies a bit too much on pop culture gags (Paris Hilton and Kardashian jokes), I’m going to predict this one goes for multiple seasons. That said, Adam Brody, Seth on The O.C., is way out of his depth in the role of Woodie, and his work on the show could single-handedly pull this series down, but Danny McBride is also in the cast so it sorta balances out. Six Point Harness very capably handles the animation and the series premieres on MTV Thursday, October 27 at 10:30/9:30c.

Here’s a cool application of Flash animation – urban projection. This piece was directed for MTV Brazil by vjsuave, who had help on the animation front from Dante Zaballa.
London-based artist Tom Bunker designed, animated and directed these idents for MTV Rocks. Looks like there’s a bit of rotoscoping going on here as well.
Popzilla got an official premiere date the other day. MTV will begin airing the new Flash-animated series on September 28th at 6:30pm, and the show will air every day there after (Mon – Thurs). Yes, you read that right – a daily animated show. I’m getting tired just writing about it. Congrats Animax! Here’s a clip, featuring the lying President of the United States, Barack Obama. HEY! I meant “lying down.” Sheesh.
