Pascal Campion, an animator who we’ve featured here a number of time on ColdHardFlash, is the subject of this documentary short, titled Inspirational Artists: Pascal Campion. I follow his SOTD (Sketch of the Day) blog, usually hoping he’ll post an animation, and his output is nothing short of breathtaking, both in volume and aesthetic. It’s the type of video that makes you want to pick up your sketch pad and see where your pen takes you.

TMBG and Animator Campion Urge Kids to Go!

Following up on his 2008 project for the alternative rock duo know as They Might Be Giants, Pascal Campion has created a new music video. Much like his One Dozen Monkeys piece, this music video also features a number of primates. It’s for the song Kids Go!, which promotes the newly-released TMBG book of the same name (which was also illustrated by Campion).

In another life, I’ll have Pascal Campion’s output capacity and creativity. According to his latest blog post, this Have a Great Day animation was knocked out one afternoon between client feedback. It’s not his first Great Day card – we featured Campion’s earlier work back in 2007.

Campion Off to Comic-con

Pascal Campion, like many of us, is headed off to Comic-con today. In honor of his departure, he created a short Flash animation, which you can see over at his website.

I’m also heading down today as well, and if anyone wants to meet up, I’ll be attending the Making Fiends panel at 5pm on Friday in room Room 7AB. I’ll be wearing my trusty brown CHF tshirt and sitting in the back right of the room. See you in San Diego!

Pascal Puts Music Video To Bed

To bring their latest music video to life, singer/songwriter siblings, Cher & Gene Klosner, have teamed up with Flash-animation maestro Pascal Campion. Seep Sams is a track on the Klosner’s 2-disc lullaby collection titled Stardust.

Campion Animates Monkeys For Giants

Pascal Campion, a one-man animating machine, has posted his collaboration with alternative rock duo know as They Might Be Giants. TMBG has created a pair of albums aimed at the preschool group – Here Come the ABCs and Here Come the 123s. Both have been turned into DVDs filled with puppetry and animation, and Campion was called upon to bring the song One Dozen Monkeys to life. The Flash animated music video is posted on Pascal’s website.

Campion Opens the Animation Door

Pascal Campion, the most prolific artist you may ever meet, is re-opening the door.

Several months back, Campion animated a Bill Plympton-esque exploration of what could happen while attempting to walk through a door.

Today he returned to the door jam, animating another attempt, and the results are equally as fun and frenetic.

2007 Holiday Card Round-up – Part 2

Damn the calendar – the holiday season is in full-effect here at CHF. We were out in the week leading up to the holiday rush, and missed a few great holiday-themed Flash-animated shorts.

Chris Georgenes, the man behind mudbubble.com, brings his daughter Andrea back into the recording booth for another holiday short. Back in 2006, she wrote her Christmas list, but this year it’s time for a song:

Tiny Inventions, a children’s entertainment development company, crafted this holiday-themed short using characters from their pre-k property In My Bag.
The irrepressible Pascal Campion animated a Flash-animated holiday short welcoming in the new year.Eric Pringle’s series Prophet Buddy debuted a holiday short that explores two of the religious groups that celebrate in December.

And the gang at Weebl’s Stuff created this unusual twist on the Christmas holiday – Mr. Christmas Pudding For a Head.

Every Day is a Great Day With Pascal

Don’t try to keep up with Pascal Campion, the San Fransisco-based artist and animator. He’s been adding a new color layout to his blog every single day for what seems like months. Take October for instance – it’s heaps of new characters, action-filled scenarios and lush background designs. It’s humbling.

But recently, he’s taken this daily challenge to the next level. Over the past three days Campion has uploaded a new, Flash-animated short. They’re all based on the same theme – Have a Great Day. He calls them “tests,” but I’ll call them brilliant. Feels like a greeting card announcement isn’t far off, but in the meantime, enjoy this explosion of art from San Fran.

Crackers Over Pascal Campion

Pascal Campion’s name needs to ring through these digital halls. He’s extremely unheralded, and his body of work will keep you busy for your entire lunch break.

Pascal lives in San Francisco, and he’s one of the few top-notch directors at Bent Image Lab. He’s done work for Ritz Crackers on several occasions, and one of the spots looked very familiar. I recalled seeing the Ritz ‘Party’ spot over at Aaron Stewart’s page at Hornet Inc, and it’s fun to see a different take on the same ad. Both seem worthy of getting the ‘green-light,’ and I’m suspecting both were done in Flash. Pascal’s designs have subsequently become the look of the brand featured on the website.

Pascal’s spot for PBS is so fluid and engaging, and his work with Chel White on the St. Louis Mills mall spots is snappy and fun.

But then you see the sheer bulk (click on ‘animation’) of his personal work, like his ‘Boss Animations,’ and you realize this guy is passionate AND persistent. His video for the They Might Be Giants song ‘Mr. Smalls’ is well worth a look, and his word-centric ‘Catnip’ short is award-worthy.
