Simon Tofield’s Flash-animated Simon’s Cat series has become a verifiable worldwide hit – with millions of YouTube views, a new book and a future in comics. You can see the influence this series has had on a new campaign for CalciYum, a children’s dairy snack. The reason for this similarity is that it that Colenso BBDO, the agency overseeing the campaign, called upon the same team to produce them – London’s Tandem Films. Below is the spot titled Cat, which includes many of the charming (read: vicious), feline quirks that make Simon’s Cat so appealing. The ads are directed by Daniel Greaves with character design by Helene Friren and animation by Jeroen Jaspaert, Ginny Robertson, Laura Nailor and Wip Vernooj.

The latest episode of Simon’s Cat, titled Hot Spot, isn’t terribly long, but we’ll cut creator Simon Tofield some slack. He’s been busy making his book, which hit the shelves earlier this week. It’s available at Amazon in the US, amongst other places. I suspect we’ll be seeing Simon’s Cat in the comic section of the newspaper here very soon as well.

English animator Simon Tofield has done it again. This new Flash-animated episode of Simon’s Cat, titled Fly Guy, so perfectly captures what so many cat lovers have seen in their own living rooms, and it shouldn’t surprise you that Tofield himself has three cats. This installment is already well on its way to being a mega-hit on YouTube, like the other multi-million view episodes. Tofield, a director at Tandem Films, is also prepping a book release for this October.

The holiday season is a time for many of us to gorge ourselves on piles of comfort food, but apparently we’re not alone. While turkeys are adorned with stuffing, dogs and cats are getting stuffed as well, by overzealous owners. With the knowledge that one in three pets is overweight, Simon Tofield has teamed up with the RSPCA, and together they’ve released this short below, titled Simon’s Sister’s Dog ‘Fed Up.’ Simon, as you might know, is the most popular cat on YouTube, and the star of the Simon’s Cat series.
