COLD HARD FLASH
Flash Empowers

We may never know if Flash will be available on the iPhone. Steve Jobs thinks it’s too slow. While we await that official announcement from Adobe and Apple, enjoy this iPhone app that was created with Flash. The team at Tui Studios employed the software to create the prototype, the storyboards and the animation (along with Anime Studio). Little Bella’s: I Close My Eyes, which was created by Jonathan Dower, incorporates solid, interactive animation into short reading and learning exercises – all aimed at kids 3-9.

The gang at Tui Studios partnered with DDB Sydney to produce a 60-second spot for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. Flash was used mainly in preproduction for this piece, and then Kelly Baigent and Jonathan Dower at Tui Studios employed Maya and After Effects to create the final cut.

And below is the animatic for the piece, which was primarily created in Flash and Photoshop.

Tui Studios, who were highlighted here back in May for their short Scraggle Muffin, have snuck out a snippet of footage from an upcoming Flash-animated project. As yet unnamed, the project is being animated and composited entirely in Flash, but they used 3rd party extensions like 3D Cam. The goal is to make 6 or 7 chapters at around 7-10 minutes each. A full trailer is due soon – can’t wait!
